Scientists who are working on the subject of ‘smart animals’ studied about the factors that can be used for measuring the extent of smartness in the animal. They classified these factors into 3 categories such as emotions, language and self recognition. According to the scientists, Chimpanzees were found to be showing similar type of emotions as that of humans, when they were watching television. They were observed to have reacted correctly as per the context. The art of self recognition was exhibited by many animals like sparrows, dolphins, elephants, chimpanzees and so on. The use of language or the ability to communicate is also a sign of intelligence which is shown mostly by the prairie dogs. Let’s checkout the 10 most smartest animals in the world:
Chimpanzees can understand the human language. They have the ability to learn the concept of numbers. They are known to have very good memory compared to other higher mammals. They can grasp the situations well and are kind-hearted. Chimpanzees are found to have excellent cognitive abilities. They are good at understanding the relationships and in analyzing the problems. Hence, they are considered as the smartest animal in the world.
The dolphin have the ability to keep half of its brain to be awake and half of it to be asleep. This condition will be maintained by the dolphin while simultaneously it is able to breathe, protect itself from predators and other dangers. Dolphin is known to have very dull eyesight. But, it has the capacity to hear the sound frequencies that are about 10 times higher than the maximum limit that can be heard by the humans. It takes the help of its teeth that function as antenna in receiving the incoming sound. It can also identify the direction from which the sound is coming very sharply. They are used by the military people for investigating the mines inside oceans.
Elephants are known as wise animals and are known for their intelligence and memory. Elephants have great helping nature. They even come forward to help other species too. They can remember the path in which they have migrated and can even go back to far off places from where they came to find some water for drinking. They can remember things very well. They express love and affection towards their family members and protect them in dangerous situations.
4. Rhesus monkey
These animals have the ability to learn things rapidly, to learn novel things, to make decisions and to remember events well. These animals are used mostly in the research studies carried out in the field of biology. They can repeat the human expressions in such a way that the humans can understand their expressions.
5. African Grey parrot
It is known to communicate with the fellow animals with the help of calls and songs. They are known for imitating the human communication methods. They have the ability to repeat the human voices and some species will also speak few words like humans.
Rats have great ability to hear and smell. They are preferred second to dogs for smelling and detecting the landmines and bombs. They are good at understanding the puzzles. They first learn the puzzle by trial and error. Once they are done with that, they will never go wrong while repeating it.
7. Crows and Ravens
These animals are specialized in using various instruments, in counting, in differentiating various shapes and structures, ad so on. They are mostly focused all the time in searching for food by constantly being alert against the predators. They are so intelligent that they can mimic the voices of various animals.
The ants are specialized in practicing division of labor. The ants, can speak with each other with the help of pheromones. The ants, leave the pheromone substance on the ground which will be recognized by the other ants. Then, the ants behind can understand the path of the first ant. They are so intelligent that they can release propaganda pheromones which can be used for misleading their enemies. The teaching is carried out here, by interaction.
Whales have spindle cells in their brain like that of humans. These cells are studied by scientists, as playing significant role in expressing love and emotions. They can express emotions heavily and can feel happy and show sorrow. They show a specific pattern of hunting and follow a plan for doing that. They maintain team spirit in hunting.
Dogs have immense learning abilities. The scientists, discovered that dogs know about 150 words. They can easily understand the moods of the humans and will accompany the humans when they need its companionship. Some breeds of dogs are very much obedient and disciplined. They are known to have aptitude for doing simple calculations. The dog shows extreme loyalty towards the human who takes care of it.
