Bikes that juice up your gadgets while on the go are the trend today. But, added advantage doesn’t come that easy, it’s always a little harsh on your pocket. Why go for those expensive charging bikes when you could convert your ordinary ones into juice producing machines. A DIYer has created a 5V generator using his bike and a modified USB car charger.
How does his USB bike generator work? It functions simply by placing a rotating wheel perpendicular to the rear wheel of the bike with a heavy spring. The mini-wheel turns a stepper motor to produce a charge, which is then smoothed out by an in-line rectifier. Whenever his gadgets run out of power, all he does is, he puts them into the carrying rack and attaches them to the 5V USB plugs situated under his seat.
