With the temperatures rising and rainfall decreasing i.e changing climate, female grey seals are being forced to travel further in search of fresh water. And, the male seals are taking all advantage of it! They are having comparatively more sex with the changing climate, a new study says.
The females’ moving in search of fresh water allows the weaker seals take the opportunity of mating away from the watchful eye of their dominant competitors!
Dr Sean Twiss, from Durham University studied a grey seal colony on the remote Scottish Island of North Rona to find their, this changing activity with climate change.
Thus, climate change, while on one hand, is endangering many species, on the other, it could also contribute in increasing the genetic diversity of some other species!
