Droughts in India to worsen: Blame climate change?

drought struck indiaIt is disappointing for Indian farmers and monsoon lovers to learn that India’s monsoon is weakening. Yeah! Once again blame climate change for it. And this may lead to droughts, which potentially may affect the world’s most populous region. Scientists at Scripps Institution of Oceanography at the University of California, San Diego made this new study.

Temperatures in the northern part of the Indian Ocean — which is cooler-than-normal — have enfeebled not only the region’s natural climate circulation, but the monsoon conditions as well. And this is reducing rainfall over India with its increase over the Sahel area south of the Sahara in Africa.
