The first time I saw the Dsolv, the first thing that came to my mind were the lethal fishing nets that take lives of uncountable water creatures each year, proving to be a nightmare for the innocent aquatic life. Immediately, disturbing pictures of millions of dead birds, fishes, whales, seals and sea turtles came in front of my eyes. But, when I learnt more about these netting bags I took a sigh of relief. These cool netting bags are designed specially to carry fallen dead leaves. Spread out on your lawn, garden area and park, they certainly don’t make a great sight. Besides, if accidentally they catch fire the results can be disastrous.
Designed by Paul Kolada, principal of an Ohio-based ID firm, Dsolv is an eco-friendly bag that looks similar to plastic netting but is made out of a plant-based resin. Each dsolv bag is capable of holding up to 45 gallons of yard waste, which is 50% more than paper lawn bags. So, now it’s time to say adieu to annoying, inconvenient paper bags that get easily torn and crumbles to pieces when it rains. You get 8 dsolv bags in the kit, which hold as much volume as 12 paper bags. Not only are they more convenient to carry, but are strong too, each holds up to 40 lbs. of yard waste. So what are you thinking of, pile up those pine cones that always gave you sleepless nights. These tough mesh bags can take even the heaviest things. But, what I like the best about these super cool bags is the fact that they are not biodegradable, but also compostable.
The idea for Dsolv originally started as a project idea for an area school, but the real brainstorm happened when one year around Christmastime Paul noticed a Christmas tree wrapped in netting to make it easier to carry and take home. After this Paul and other designers at Priority Designs started working on the design of the product and looked for all the feasible solutions. It took 18 months of hard work and dedication to come out with this innovative product, but the result is worth the effort.
The Starter Kit of this mesh bag comprises of spring-loaded sleeve, ergonomic carrying handle, and 8 dsolv bags. All these items come jam-packed in a durable pouch, which is quite handy for storage. They certainly have an upper hand over the regular paper bags. What makes them better than the paper bags is the fact that they are tear resistant, 100% compostabe, easy to fill and carry, can withstand rain, ventilated and have larger capacity. When you are getting all this for the same price I see no reason why you should not ditch the clumsy paper bags. Get home the dsolv Starter Kit just once, and you would never wish to see those annoying paper bags again! The idea sound so good that I feel replacing our harmful plastic grocery bags with these green mesh bags would be a great idea.
