Imagine the beauty an exotic boat contains and think if the same beauty could make your house look colorful and bright! Now it is all possible that such an exotic reclaimed boat could be turned into elegant pieces of furniture that may stylize your living room or bedroom. Owned by a German expat in Indonesia named Achmad Kurt, All From Boats is one such company that specializes in creating unique and innovative rustic furniture from salvage wood. This wood is reclaimed from old fishing vessels. Kurt purchases boats that are decommissioned by local fishermen from South Pacific.
Adopting fair trade practices, the All From Boats company has done agreements with fishermen, according to which if a boat reaches the total disposal stage, the company purchases it and the owner fisherman gets some good income. The wood used to make furniture items is fully reclaimed and is taken from old fishing trawlers that once sailed through waters of Java, Bali, Kalimantan, Indonesia, Lombok or Sulawesi. The purchased raw material is then used to make colorful furniture items, such as chairs, dining and side tables, dressing tables and mirrors, etc.
Since reclaimed boats have nice exotic designs painted on them, the furniture too adopts the same while appearing colorfully smart. Whichever way these colorful patterns are carved out of the boat’s wood, these appear awesome while they are arranged within the piece of furniture. The designed furniture is handcrafted while entirely using the timber from a 40 – 60 years old boat. Most commonly used hard wood varieties include intaran, teak and ulin. The furniture made from exotic reclaimed boats looks far more creative and appealing than a regular wooden item. Whether you place a stylish chair in your garden or hang a dressing mirror in bedroom, it would definitely reflect the beauty that an old exotic boat holds.
