No, we aren’t here to promote “leather practice,” but getting your hands over glossy, chic leather jackets through recycling isn’t that bad after all. The folks at Oakland-based Platinum Dirt have recently unveiled a range of road-ready leather jackets that are fashion out of reclaimed automotive upholstery. Dubbed the “VIN” line, this eco-friendly collection flaunts reclaimed stuff from vintage Caddys, Bimmers and Benzes.
Each piece is created by using front and rear seats of a single car. Designed with the logo of the original auto manufacturer embossed either on the chest or shoulder, the jackets pay tribute to the long-gone beauties. These one-of-a-kind pieces of wearable art are detailed to perfection, offering a great fit and style.
