This 420-seater Estonia-based outdoor stage made from 50 x 50mm recycled timber batons is the creation of Kadarik Tüür Arhitektid. Designed to stage 12 summertime plays, the 280 square meter theater is set amidst scenic green environs comprising trees, a park and a lake that together form its integral part. The ambiance is a fine blend of intimacy and compactness to develop a close-knit theatrical bond between the artistes and the audience.
The light wood ensures spaciousness and facilitates dynamic changes in stage lighting. The theater projects a theme of abstraction belonging to the early 20th century poetry and futurism. This is an attempt to recreate a intricate slice of European history in innovative fashion. The use of wood is intentional as it avoids the conventional concrete look besides being weather-proof and design-friendly.
Since the construction is entirely from timber, it can be dismantled at will and re-used again to stage proposed plays. In fact, this theater will be taken apart after 12 performances mark the end of summer. The timber will then be reused to serve other purposes.
