The University of Phoenix Stadium experienced a major change, as 312 Ephesus Lighting stadium fixtures featuring 44,928 Cree XLamp MK-R LEDs replaced more than 780 metal halide fixtures. It is a sea change that has inspired many other industries as well that it is very much possible to have absolute LED adoption. Everybody knows that LED light bulbs are the most efficient light bulbs.
The new lighting system is a green technology that has brought a considerable difference in the power usage and the electricity production. The traditional metal halide system would require 1.24 million watts to keep all the lighting going, and this remarkable new green lighting system operates on just 310,000 watts of energy.
You can very well see how tremendous the reduction in the energy consumption is, it is about 75 percent reduction in energy. The energy usage has reduced but the illumination capacity has increased, as in the LED light bulbs emit double the light compared to the traditional light bulbs.

Ephesus worked in coordination with the Cree Inc. engineers to develop efficient LED semiconductor chips. They have used the best of modern technology to design the optics, controllers, drivers, and the cooling methodology of this new system.
According to the company, the special lens design that they have given to this new system is ideal to allow tight beam angles, which were absent in the traditional metal halide fixtures. The photometric engineers are so capable that they can create portrait on the field regardless of the position of the player just about anywhere in the ground.
The LED lighting system gives better light facilities to the players, to the viewers sitting in the stadium, and gives better picture quality to the viewers following match on television. Yet another feature of this all-new LED lighting technology that was used for the very first time in the Super Bowl 2015 was the safety feature. During 2013 Super Bowl, the lights shut down and took a long 22-minute time to come back because the metal halide lights had a slow re-strike performance but the LED lighting system does not have this disadvantage.
