LSG (Lighting Science Group), the first US company to produce one million LED bulbs in a year, has added another feather in the crown introducing 60 watt incandescent replacement cooler LED bulbs for domestic households applying modernized version of green technology. With more than 75% energy efficiency, these bulbs are affordable with an introductory price of $22 and are free from pollutants. The company is targeting to reduce the price of the LED bulb to $15 and $8 in the forthcoming years.
The bulb has exceeded the competition standards laid by the L Prize with an astounding energy output of more than 900 lumens using less than 1 watt of electricity, and with an admirable life span of more than 25,000 hours. The color rendering index and the color temperature of this LED bulb also in accordance with the L Prize standards helped in maintaining the lead in the competition among other lighting devices and bulbs.
The bulb needs replacement after about 23 years, and so the initial pricing of this 60 watt replacement LED should not be a serious botheration if compared to the annual savings in the power bills along with the energy.
