Seeking to make amends to the lack of space on the ground, the green skyscrapers sure add an authoritative charm to a building’s façade. The hydroponics systems, while they ask for no soil for sustenance, can sustain almost all sorts of vegetable growths. The Plug-in Skyscraper is one such architectural solution that plugs several of these systems into individual housing units.
The skyscraper, designed by French architects Guihun Choe and Etienne Jaunet, features several open exoskeletons or structural grids, wherein residents could plug their custom-made houses. The residents need to follow some strict design guidelines for this though. The skyscraper will rely on photovoltaic cells and wind turbines for gratifying it energy requirements. The honeycomb structures create a new type of housing typology with affordable private gardens, accommodation, garages and recreation spaces.
