Oh! I am a big science fiction movie buff. Ridley Scott’s Alien in which a highly aggressive extraterrestrial creature stalks and kills the crew of a spaceship and John McTiernan’s Predator that showed on screen how the scary monster kills the entire Dutch force that is on a mission to rescue hostages from guerrilla territory in Central America is my all time favorite. So, when I came across these fabulous metal sculptures inspired by the characters of my favorite movies I could stop myself from sharing it with you. What’s even more interesting is the fact that they come with an eco-friendly message this time. Wondering how? These monsters are crafted from old car and bike parts.
Looking at these striking pieces of art you would never be able to guess the material it is fashioned fro, which by the way is trash. The artist first selects different parts envisioning which one would fit where and then goes on to weld them together, giving them shape of well-known creature of movie legend. These remarkable statement pieces of art are formed by selecting, cleaning and reforming scrap car or bike parts like gearboxes, bearings, springs, pipes and clips. As a single artist does everything from selecting the scrap parts to welding them together, each piece takes at least a month to reach its final shape. When designing a huge model, the artist even goes on to use more than 1000 components. The recycled metal art sculptures include the “Alien 52cms”, “Predator 52cms”, “Predator 72cms”, “Predator 90cms”, “Predator 120cms”.
The creativity and hard work does end here. After the artist is done with his job, the sculpture is sent to other artisans who will clean polish and lacquer the sculpture to preserve it. You can use them to adorn both your living space and patio or garden. If you are worried about them getting spoilt, don’t bother because all they need is a little cleaning and re- lacquering periodically. Each work of art is made in sections which simply slot together. This is done to facilitate transportation and handling as these are heavy when assembled. It’s only because of its ingenious construction that its re-assembly was possible that too so conveniently. These amazing artworks hold the potential to throw new life into any dwelling or even patio and garden for that matter.
