Studio Weave has recently added another attraction to Littlehampton’s award-winning Blue Flag beach. The designers have installed Britain’s longest bench that seats over 300 people. The meandering 324 meter-long bench is made using thousands of reclaimed tropical hardwood slats, salvaged from landfills and old seaside groynes. The colorful stainless steel bars inserted for support wherever the bench form twists, bends or dips is made from stainless steel, a 100 percent recyclable and on average 70 percent recycled material.

Two bronze-finished steel monocoque loops connect the promenade and frame views toward and away from the sea. This innovative design has room for further growing of the landmark bench up to 621m, seating over 800. Let’s hope the extension helps in putting Littlehampton in the record books.
