Use of Propane in Farming is Increasing

propane tankThe use of propane gas on firms is increasingly becoming popular. More than half of U.S. farms currently use propane for a variety of purposes, which include heating, fuel for tractors, crop drying and non-chemical pest control. In the years ahead, the sight of propane gas tanks may become even more common on the US farms. All credit goes to the recent signing of a memorandum of understanding between the Agricultural Research Service (ARS) and the Propane Education and Research Council (PERC). Though propane gas has, till date been mostly used in winter heating, researchers and the council are interested in exploring ways to increase the use of the fuel in fall, spring and summer farming operations. It has also been said that spreading out the use of propane year-round could lower its costs for winter heating.
