Barbara Stokes is currently the CEO of Green Structure Homes Delivered which is based in Huntsville, Alabama. Mrs. Stokes founded this company along with her husband Scott. Mrs. Stokes is a 2001 graduate of Mercer University where she majored in biomedical engineering and physics. Before founding Green Structure Homes Delivered, Mrs. Stokes worked for Pisces Corporation and Boeing. During her time at these companies, she gained a great deal of experience on how government contracting works.

Green Structure Homes Delivered is a provider of emergency housing solutions that can be utilized in disaster situation. The company works closely with FEMA. During the recent hurricane events in Houston and the Gulf Coast area, Green Structure Homes Delivered provided emergency housing to a number of residents in the affected area.

While Barbara Stokes and her company are deeply involved in providing housing solutions to the government and other clients, Mrs. Stokes is firmly committed to being involved with her community and contributing to the benefit of others. This past June, Green Structure Homes and Mrs. Stokes made a significant donation of building materials to the Madison County branch of Habitat For Humanity.

Habitat For Humanity is a worldwide organization that helps to provide affordable housing for those who would not be able to afford a home without assistance. The Madison County branch of this organization has been in operation since 1987.

The Green Structure Homes donation in June included 1600 sheets of drywall. A truckload of Hardie Fascia was also donated along with several thousand square feet of Linoleum. The total value of the donation was in the range of $75,000.

This was certainly a generous donation on the part of Mrs. Stokes and her company, but the generous giving to Habitat For Humanity didn’t end with that donation. Just this past August, Green Structure Homes made another substantial donation to Habitat For Humanity.

With this donation, Green Structure Homes Delivered donated an additional amount of fascia and drywall. The approximate value of this August donation was $50,000. With the material from both donations included, it took nine semi-trucks to deliver the material from Green Structure Homes’ manufacturing facility to Madison County Habitat For Humanity.

The officials at Madison County Habitat For Humanity have stated that they intend to put both of these large donations to good use. The organization has plans to build at least eight new homes in the Huntsville area by the end of 2018. The material donated by Mrs. Stokes’ company will be used on many of these homes. If there is material that is left over at the end of the year, that material will be used on additional homes to be built next year. Some of the material that is not used by Habitat For Humanity directly will be offered for sale by the organization’s ReStore facility whose proceeds help to raise money for the organization.

Although Green Structure Homes Delivered is a for-profit company and Habitat for Humanity is a charitable organization, both are providing homes to vulnerable populations. Together, they are meeting the housing needs of those who need housing the most.
