Environmentalists and scientists sent out a red alert with their observations of the Amazon rainforest. They found a 30% increase in the deforestation of the Amazon rainforest within a 12-month period.  This rainforest is not just one of the beauties of the world, but at the same time, it is also the home for around 2,000 mammals and birds, tens of thousands of plants and close to 2.5 million species of insects.

The Amazon rainforest is the heart for the planet

The planet’s basic and vital functioning is dependent on the rich ecosystem of the soils, rivers and Tropical rainforests that are present in the Amazon basin. This is because the forest helps in regulating climate patterns, sequester global carbon, and it produces the right amount of moisture content needed for the atmosphere. The recent photos and images that have been shared across various platforms show the heartbreaking side of the deforestation.

Devastating truth shared by people

People have been deeming this event as an epidemic, which needs to end as soon as possible. Along with that, environmentalists and environmental activist are also hoping that more stringent laws should be put in place for the protection and conservation of the Amazon rainforest. In 2015, an initiative introduced by Greenpeace expired with 1.4 million signatures, it was related to the zero deforestation policy.

Right now, cutting of trees requires a permit, which is handed over within a few weeks. The Ministry of Agriculture issues this permit of cutting trees. However, prior to 2012, an explanation and justification had to be given by various government agencies in order to even allow a tree to be cut down. This itself is an eye opener of how much work needs to be done and the various concrete measures that are needed to protect the rainforest.

The lucrative steps that are taken presently

With the continuous efforts and lots of pressure, finally it looks like the movement of saving the rainforests has finally started to show results. To achieve this end, there are various teams working together in the natural environment of the Amazon Rainforests.

These teams include wildlife and fisheries biologists, economists, as well as various other experts that are not only providing their valuable input but also finding out lucrative ways towards achieving these goals. By understanding the biodiversities present there, these teams are finding ways to ensure that the steps that are taken to improve the condition.

They are also working on natural resource management and reshaping the daily land use. Various other factors that are the focal areas include social inequity, water degradation, over-fishing, deforestation and other such driving factors.

Furthermore, experts are also working along with the people living in these areas to address the different problems and challenges that they face.  Similarly, there are also plans in place to help the families settled deep inside the territory so that they do not have to keep on facing the tedious and constant challenges of living a harsh life. The plan is to provide the necessary support to these settlements and to save the private forests from various kinds of disasters.

To come up with lucrative measures, the help of fishermen and hunters as well as people who have a lot of knowledge of the area is providing an essential support for scientists. This is because they go deep into the region and require the help of the local people to take them around as well as share the knowledge that they have about the different ways the region has been affected over the years. With this inside knowledge, the various research and tests all put together can surly boost up the efforts of saving the Amazon Rainforest and bringing it back to its original glory and form.
