It is by 2015, we would witness an unnerverving global phenomenon. Yes, the world will have 100 million extra hungry people in less than 10 years to go! Scientists say. It was at the annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science (AAAS), the scientists were speaking.
But, there have been great improvements in food availability in the 1960s and 1970s! Then why this reversing trend? With no new technologies and greater financial investment, the United Nations’ goal of halving hunger by 2015 looks unattainable.
Several global promises have been made, many conferences, seminars were held to find a solution to this, but, nothing has changed since the early 1980s – with ten pre-school children dying every minute from malnutrition. Where are the promises and sanctioned funds gone?!
