The dwindling freshwater supply of the world has been predicted to be one of the leading causes of internal political and social conflicts in the near future. As water tables continue to dip around the world, designers are trying very hard to come up with a way to encourage water conservation in the average home. Here are some of the most innovative conceptual products that aim to encourage water conservation at home.
The Fog Shower
The Fog Shower is an innovative new shower concept that promises to allow a person to get the satisfaction of a full, 5 minute long shower while using only two liters of water. Created by Brazilian designer Joao Schimansky, the shower uses ultrasonic heating to form water droplets that pass through perforated metal plates. A smart sensor is also installed in the shower to sense where the user requires the most amount of water and focuses the spray accordingly.
Water Displacement Objects
Designed by Rochus Jacob, the super low tech Water Displacement Objects Concept offers users a way to enjoy a luxuriant full bath while using just 50 percent of the water that a traditional bath requires. Made using recycled plastic, the stone like rounded white “objects” need to be placed in the bath to allow just half a bathful of water to appear like a fully filled bath.
Water recycling EcoDual washing machine
Washing machines are one of the most water wasting appliances in the home. The EcoDual washing machine is a new concept that allows users to wash delicates and regular clothes in separate tanks with 2kg and 6kg capacity. all the water used by either tank is stored by the washer is stored, filtered and reused by the machine which helps conserve a lot of water on every laundry day.
Poor Little Fish basin
If you want to teach young kids to value water and just how much of it they waste while playing at the sink with the faucet open, the Poor Little Fish Basin concept would be perfect for your home. The basin basically comes with a fish bowl on top. When a user uses the sink, the water in the fish tank starts to dwindle (it doesn’t really drain out though) thus allowing users to be mindful of the amount of water they use.
Visible Shower Tank
People that have a hard time sticking to their water conservation resolution would really benefit from the Visible Shower Tank Concept by designer Frank Guo. The tank comes with a transparent front and sides that allow the user to see just how much water they have used during a shower.
