America is littered with beautiful natural surroundings, from mountain ranges, through to sandy beaches – the country has it all. The best of these can be found within any of the 58 National Parks that run from coast to coast and everywhere in between. Although practically everyone single one would make a great place to camp, some of our favorites are listed below.
Acadia National Park, Maine
Schoodic Woods Campground is home to 9 different sites that are only accessible via a hike through the surrounding wilderness. Despite the campground being located on the mainland, it is a world away from the hustle and bustle of urban life. A night or two here will leave you feeling like you are the only person in the forest.
Great Smoky Mountains National Park, North Carolina
Just outside of Bryson City in North Carolina is the Deep Creek Campground. Here you are able to enjoy the sights and sounds of the beautiful Deep Creek. From here it is just a short walk to a stunning 80 foot cascade of water known as Juney Whank Falls. The rivers around Deep Creek are great for spotting salamanders with the kids or a spot of trout fishing.
Biscayne National Park, Florida
Make your way down to the Boca Chita Key campground where you are able to pitch your tent to have the perfect view of the Miami skyline. The juxtaposition from the sprawling metropolis of one of America’s largest cities to the beautiful natural surroundings is awe inspiring. Here you are almost guaranteed to catch a glimpse of manatees, osprey, rays, migrating birds and dolphins all in the wild. It is best to visit in either the spring, fall or winter when the temperatures are not too high.
Isle Royale National Park, Michigan
Take a step off of the beaten path and head to Huginnin Cove for a true camping experience. This small rustic campsite based on the north shore of Lake Superior, on Isle Royale is both visually stunning and beautifully quiet. Campers often state sightings of moose and other wild animals.
Denali National Park & Preserve, Alaska
Based in the wilds of Alaska, a stay in the Denali National Park & Preserve will leave you as far away from civilization as possible. Camping at one of the 28 different sites at Wonder Lake guarantees that you wake up to a stunning view.

Voyageurs National Park, Minnesota
Deep in the wilds of Minnesota lies the lesser known Voyageurs National Park. Concentrated around 4 tranquil lakes, you will find family friendly campsites dotted on the many islands there. For the quietists spots, head to Loyden or Quill.
Yosemite National Park, California
A popular campsite with back packers during the summer months, Tuolumne Meadows campground is situated in the heart of the Yosemite National Park. Its high elevation of over 8,000 feet, and location out of the main valley, means that it lies within a totally different ecosystem to the rest of the park, and is home to a variety of rare plants and animals, such as pikas and yellow billed marmots.
