Instructions:
1. Process the bark of birch tree
With the help of a sharp and strong knife, make horizontal cuts on a birch tree bark. Around the trunk of this birch tree try to extend the cuts carefully. After you have completed your first cut, just above that make parallel cuts which should not be less then 16-18 inches. Now with the help of a single vertical cut you will have to join the two horizontal cuts in the trunk.
2. Cut the bark of the birch tree vertically
Slide your knife and insert tip of the knife blade under the bark and cut it vertically. Do it very carefully so that it does not puncture the bark of the birch tree. Now this process will help you to loosen the edge so that you can grab it tightly. After this you will have to pull the paneled bark from the tree and make sure to keep it single piece.
3. Create a cone from the bark panel
Now, try to form a cone from this paneled bark by rolling one end like the way you roll newspaper. You will have to make sure that, while forming this cone, the inside of the bark should be used as inner part of the cone. Now tighten the cone by tying it with some strong vine so that it can take a shape of a fashionable container.
4. Place rocks, wild grass and sand in the cone container
After you form a cone container, it is the time to place small clean rocks inside the cone. These rocks actually help holding the materials from the water, when you pour impure water in this cone container. Pack 1 inch layer of grass into the bark container and then follow it with an inch of sand. Repeat this sand and grass alternate layer until you reach the top of the bark container and leave minimum 2 inch empty space at the top of the container.
5. Collect purified water to the clean container
Place a clean container at the bottom of the bark cone and very slowly pour impure water to the bark cone. You can remove particles from the impure water only if you pour it slowly to the cone container. You can pour in the collected filtered water if you see some particle inside the water.
