Oasis is an isolated area, a break from the sea of sand, a desert area with vegetation. Generally an oasis is located around a spring, lake or similar water source. Human habitat and animal populations are generally found around large oasis.
An oasis is very important for the routes in desert areas. Caravans and travel routes mostly follow oasis along their routes to replenish their water resource. Thereby Oases are an important area for power struggle in desert politics.
Formed by underground rivers or wells, the water sources in oasis are filled by the pressure of underground water. The substrata impermeable rocks, or faults in subsurface ridges collect water and act as fresh water resources. Greenery starts to develop around this water source which is otherwise a barren sea of sand. The green oasis breaks the monotony of the golden sand in and around, till the distance the eyes can see. Oasis seems to be like a break free from the mundane city life and a visit to the magnificent oases acts similarly, as a welcome break from the rat race.

1.Ein Gedi, Israel
The oasis is located on the Dead sea`s western coast. The Ein Gedi oasis is located near the Qumran caves and Masada in Israel.
