Cardboard Playhouse: Keep your child engaged

If you’re running out of ideas to engage your kids, here’s one that can keep them entertained for hours, and the best part is, you need only cardboard boxes of different shapes. Conceptualized by Benjamin Alfonso from San Francisco, who used cardboard boxes that come in square and rectangular shapes to build a tubular playhouse, this amazing concept uses cardboard boxes in such a way that they make a hollow cave-like space inside. There are other playhouses in cardboard which actually look like a big box with lot of decor thrown in to make it resemble home.

Tubular! Playhouse

This could be interesting for smaller kids but this tubular playhouse is different as it can be built like a column that older kids can build in interestingly different ways. The playhouse can be made having different levels or storeys! There are louvered panels to give visibility and light as well as a kind of enclosed space. One side is latticed which can be great for kids to climb up and down. The pillars in the corners are irresistible for sliding down! It’s an ideal playhouse as you can use the inner space for playing indoor games, sitting in a corner and reading, or sketching and coloring, playing with toys in a safe place or slightly physical games for older children like climbing, sliding, hide and seek. Imagine children building their own spaceship and exploring the stars, or a lighthouse to watch the ships, or be a caveman from pre-historic ages! They also have the choice of painting the interiors as creatively as they want. The options are endless.

Made from cardboard which is light, they can be stored and moved about to suit your convenience. Cardboard is an eco-friendly material and completely bio-degradable. It is also safe for kids as it does not offer any resistance and so cannot bruise or harm them however boisterous they may be. Cardboard also happens to be made with recycled cardboard and the boxes themselves are a great way to be re-used helping in balancing the eco-system. The Play house can be made indoors or out depending on the weather. The only hazard could be fire, which it has to be safe-guarded against and adults who I’m sure will try to relive their childhood given the chance!

Benjamin Alfonso has also created and designed things like a bottle-cart, light-pool Aqua center, green belt bench, pre-fab classrooms, and a library to name a few, in very ingenuous ways.
