After celebrating the super success of his previously made toothpick sculptures of the world’s most recognizable architecture, Stan Munro is back yet again with his another ingenious creation. This man here seems to be on a mission to break records with his scale models and this time around it’s his religious replica doing the job for him. After avoiding the imitation of the Le Corbusier’s chapel of Notre Dame du Haut in Ronchamp, France for a long time, Munro finally took up the difficult task. As part of his project Toothpick City II: Temples & Towers’, the new religious sculpture depicts the billowing concrete roof and abstract windows in a toothpick model.
Initially creating small toothpick models was just a hobby for Munro, but he took it up seriously with his first major project, ‘Toothpick City I: History of Skyscrapers’ in 2003. His exhibit had more than 50 scaled replicas of the world’s tallest skyscrapers to display. Famous skyscrapers like the Chrysler Building in New York, Burj Al Arub Hotel in Dubai and the Eiffel Tower in Paris are a few he has brought to life. Wooden toothpicks with regular glue give perfect strength to his creations that are hollow from inside.
