Hanging Vegetable Patch
Do you have an old hanging shoe organizer? Instead of throwing it away, you can turn it into a vertical patch in which you can grow plants or vegetables. All you need for that is a hanging shoe organizer, poles, hanging hooks, compost, and seeds/plant of your choice. You will also need a couple of wooden blocks to make sure that the pockets don’t touch the wall. Attach the pole to a wall and hang the shoe organizer with the help of hooks and wire. You need to make sure that the pockets are porous, and if not, make a hole in them. Then you need to fill the pockets with compost and seeds, and your vegetable patch is ready.
Cork Vase
Not throwing away a used wine cork is a good habit. If you are saving all those corks from the wine bottles, then you are in luck. Corks are highly useful when it comes to DIY projects. Because they are not only eco-friendly, but also make for a great decoration. You can turn these corks into a vase and put a plant in it. Take a strong glue, scissors and a ton of corks. After that, all you need to do is glue them together on top of each other in the right way, and you have your long square-shaped vase. Make sure you use the same size corks to make it look aesthetic.
Plastic Bottle Plant
Another great tip is to turn old plastic bottles into a beautiful herb plant. For this, you will need a plastic bottle with a cap, a knife, a pair of scissors, soil, and herb seeds of your choice. Cut the bottle in a way that is not more than 5 inches from its base. After that, invert the bottle with a closed cap and fill it with soil. Then you need to put the seeds into the soil and press it for a few minutes to make sure it is mixed properly in the soil. Now all you need to do is water it and put it in a sunny spot.
DIY Bee Habitat
Bee colonies are disappearing at an alarming rate, and it is a serious threat to our vegetables and fruits because they would not grow well without any pollination. So, why not put that old scrap wood to use and make a nice house for bees. All you need is a drill and an old scrap wood. Take the scrap wood, drill a few holes in its sides and hang it in your garden. Now you have a DIY bee habitat of your own where the bees can rest.
