The schools and homes are the two places where a child learns the most; thus, it is the duty of the teachers to teach the children at school the importance of living in a healthy mankind. The environment should be always taken care of, hence the children should be taught various methods to how to conserve it. Similarly at home their parents should equally make them understand the importance of conservation. The methods of reduce, recycle and reuse can be taught to the children and the children would learn them with interest and will find it entertaining, too.
Children is our future and it is necessary for us to educate the children at school and home towards the conservation. This will help the children to get more close to the nature and love the green environment. It will help them to be thoughtful of how to recycle various things used daily by making the children little creative. Parents and teachers can help children to create new items from old ones. The children should be made aware of the importance of the green and clean environment. The following things, used by children at school and home, can be recycled.
1. PLASTIC
The plastic that is used by the children can be reused to make clean plastic jugs as planters for the garden seeds. Plastic cups can also be used to make small water bottles. The plastic cups can be decorated with paint to make different color bottles. It can be entertaining and fun as well for the children.
2. CLOTHING
There are various clothes that children don’t like repeating again and they get bored with it, so these clothes can be recycled as well. Children can plan and help in making quilts from the worn and outgrown clothing. In the school, the old clothes can be made into bags, pillows or different costumes. This will help the children to become creative as well.
3. PAPER
Each year the students use new notebooks and the old ones, that is of previous year, are not of any use; thus, in this way the paper gets collected each year. Children can use paper in large amount in school as well as home. Children can thus learn to make book covers, scratch pads and art-quality paper from the wastes. Similarly the newspapers get collected each day and hence these waste newspapers can be used by the children to make scrap work or various beautiful posters. It would definitely be great fun to the children.
4. CARDBOARD
Adults and children can recycle cardboard boxes of all the sizes creatively. A rubber band can be stretched across the shoe box to make a guitar or cardboard can be covered with an aluminum foil to form a cardboard solar oven. The cardboard box of small sizes can be used to make bangle box by the children. The bangle box can be beautifully decorated from outside and can be painted as well and decorated by various colored paper cuttings. Hence various show pieces can be made from the cardboard.
5. JARS
The Bournvita jars, juice jars, various bottles of health drinks can be recycled as well. The jars can be decorated with colored rappers and ribbons and can be painted as well to form beautiful jars. Small baby food jars can be brought to school and children can make beautiful point jars out of them.
6. WATER
Children can save water from washing or the art projects and can be used for the watering plants. But care should be taken that gray water should not contain grease or food particles. Any soap content should contain minimum of sodium so as to prevent damage to the watered plant.
7. BOOKS
Each year the children have different course books, so some of the previous year books are of no use to them and they get collected. Thus the students who know how to take care of the book are actively recycling them at both homes and schools. Donating books to charity also is another method of recycling.
Thus children should be made aware of the importance of the recycling, reuse of the various products which will help in contributing to the green environment. If the children are made to learn all these recycling methods in schools as well as home it can help the students to understand the importance of the clean and green environment. Thus it helps to teach various methods to children to entertain themselves as well as help in recycling and reusing various products. Clean and green environment is admired by everyone.
