Old Jam Jars to be reused by local people to continue charity works

Law of reusing old jam jars restored

The age-old tradition of using old jam jars was forbidden by law. However, in October regulation of a new law was surpassed where it said that the jars used in market places were the only ones that have been stopped. Otherwise, people can carry on reusing their old jars to preserves, pickles, chutneys at home for charity and domestic purposes. Euro MP Sir Graham Watson improvised on this law and confirmed about the statement that was passed. Only after careful sanitation, some jars can be used for commercial purposes.

The European Commission has assured the general population of the fact that villages and fund raising communities need to be a prime areas for selling preserves and jam which will not be hindered by any law. It is an integral part to perform domestic business in Britain and Sir Graham confirmed people that they will not be threatened if they reuse old jam jars to carry on with their social activities. The new health rules opted by the British Government does not allow old jam jars to be reused for marketing areas. The law thus excludes those who want to make home-made preservatives or pickles to pack them in jars and distribute them among charitable homes and rural villages. It has been made clear that the law will not hinder domestic business in any way and so people should not be threatened of this cause anymore.

Difficulties faced by the common people

The common people were in a big fix when the law was first passed and it was not clear why the Government would take up such an action against reusing of old jam jars for domestic purposes. The statement was then cleared after protests from the Church, monasteries and other local charity homes. The British Health Regulation Ministry deeply regrets for causing harassment among the public and said that the law is only for commercial business purposes and the domestic business of reusing old jam jars is in no way harmed.

Ways to keep jam jars intact

Sealing old jars with cellophane covers is a very good technique to preserve pickles chutneys etc. For selling it to charity homes and fund raising communities, packing the old jam jars up with cellophane covers is the perfect gift anybody can give out. Just keep in mind that while sealing the mouth of the jar, no air bubbles should be present underneath the cellophane sheet. While the preserve is hot, you can cover the jar with the cover and let it cool down slowly after it has been sealed off tightly.
