The watering robot is designed after studying normal water sprinklers, which waste a lot of water. Naiad brings down the amount of water required to maintain healthy grass to minimum. The robot can propel itself around the yard and spray water accordingly. The spray of water is released beneath it instead of sprinkling it.  As the robot is solar-powered, all it requires is sunlight to generate required energy and that makes it a green product.

The robot design resembles a large clip, able to propel itself in the yard. Two nozzles are provided underneath and on both sides. Users will be required to hook up a water pipe in the provided space. The surface provides buttons to schedule watering and a LED indicator lets you know when it’s working. A core computing power is housed in the central unit that measures the area of a yard and then plot most efficient route before starting to water.

The overall design is not only efficient, but also greener as it saves water and generates its own energy to operate.

The robot features hydraulic pump and proximity sensors along with placing some around the perimeter of the grass. The sensors guide the robot which then moves using the energy generated through included solar panels on the surface. Solar panels collect energy during day and store it in a central unit mounted near the house or water source.

Place the unit in a sunny starting point in the yard and program the water schedule using the base unit which then wirelessly transmits it the robot.

The watering robot has been designed after diagnosing the usual problem with watering systems – wastage of water. The robot is targets primarily suburban homeowners who love to include a garden or yard to enhance their home environment. It can also serve the commercial businesses with large grassy yards, so it does have a secondary target too.
