She spent three weeks to create this ‘green’ attire with some assistance from her boyfriend – who took charge of drinking these packets! She also made a matching necktie for him in the bargain.

2. ‘Sweet’ prom dress made out of candy wrappers

Tara Fey managed to surprise all the girls at the Prom by wearing a dress that was as ‘sweet as candy’ – quite literally speaking! This young girl from Wisconsin got her mother to sew together Starburst candy wrappers (which ran into thousands) to make a unique dress. The mother-daughter duo went ahead and bought kilos of Starburst candies and gave them to their neighbors to eat on the condition that the wrappers would be returned to them in good shape. After getting back the wrappers, the two spent a lot of time and effort in pressing each wrapper down eight times in order to make a tight wave. It took a lot of attempts and six long years for the mother to realize the dream which was even bettered with a matching handbag and shoes! Tara’s boyfriend was also given a matching waistcoat to wear at the Prom – which made it an amazing recycled apparel collection indeed!

3. Soda pop tab prom dress

Crafted by Maura, this amazing prom dress is made by weaving together hundreds of pop tabs! The dress betrays its recycled origins and looks like a designer collection piece with it’s elegant sheen. The designer weaved as many as 4000 pop tabs on to fabric and also used 400 yards of ribbon. This awesome dress is an amazing prom dress creation that can surely get heads turning!

Condom prom dress – or shall we call it ‘prophylactic’ attire – seems like a good way to spread social awareness and make a statement for promoting protected sex. Nevertheless, these colorful eco-friendly creations look extremely trendy!

Patch Work Alice made a bright and colorful prom dress for herself with rainbow-colored Skittles wrappers – a great way to reuse plastic!
