G.Lab* made its mark at the International Ideas Competition. The department of Gansam Architects & Partners in Seoul won the completion for its sustainable design, the 2012 Yeosu World Exposition Big-O. Titled under the theme “Green Ocean, Blue Forest,” the idea behind the project is to present the Big-O as a marine ecosystem restoration project and to allow visitors to experience this process firsthand.
Inspired by the fluid dynamics of water and its interactivity, the design offers future-oriented outdoor spaces, while improving the amenities for the overall Exposition spatial experience. Translating various functions and characteristics of the ocean very artistically as culture and art spaces, the architects provide visitors with user-specific experiences. The Big-O includes sensitively designed walkways, parks, landscapes and exhibitions that are simply mesmerizing.
