Everlasting blossoms: Intricate sculptures made from pressed flowers

As kids we all enjoyed collecting and putting beautiful flowers into books to preserve their beauty for years. But a Spanish artist takes our childhood love a step further. Ignacio Canales Aracil takes those delicate pressed flowers and converts them into intricate sculptures. Titled “The Fragility of Time”, the mesmerizing artwork is created by flattening and weaving the collected flowers into paper molds and then giving them unique shapes. The pressed flowers and plants are sourced from public parks and gardens in the UK.

Not only does Aracil give new life to dead flowers, but also donates a portion of the proceeds from the sale of the flower sculptures to two British nurseries. The Wild About Flowers Nursery in Devon and Pembroke-Lodge in Richmond Park utilize the money to improve the quality of the plants grown.
