As creatives at Studio Wieki Somers wished to resuscitate human ashes, they altered the vestiges into three life-like sculptures. The 3D-printed works of art, dubbed as 3 Still Lives, were created for the project ‘In Progress’. The artists believe that the ashes, when converted into something worth cherishing, are there to stay forever. The highly symbolic artworks talk of progress, vanity and transience of earthly life, pleasure and death.
As I have never seen ashes converted into a chair, a vacuum cleaner or a toaster, it’s a revelation for me. How about you?
