A team of 17 has proven to the world that passion, dedication and hard work make the perfect recipe to achieve the impossible. Overcoming the biggest problem associated with electric vehicles i.e. the limited battery life, the Japan Electric Vehicle Club [JP] has succeeded in travelling exactly 1,003.184 kilometers without a recharge. The Tokyo-based civic group yesterday announced that it customized a Mira EV to break its own record of 555.6km set by using another electric vehicle last month.
Powered by a Sanyo lithium-ion battery, the customized Mira EV drove 1,003.184 kilometers at a driving course in Shimotsuma, Japan. The club claims that their green car can run for 27 and a half hours at around 40km/h on average. The enthusiastic group wishes to see their name on the Guinness World Records and plans to ask the officials to recognize the drive soon.
