While walking through the street sidewalks you must have often seen chewing gums tossed on them. Did you ever think of a way to tackle this waste? Well, a 25-year-old design student certainly did. Anna Bullus who has earlier been appreciated for creating “optical illusion” stools and shape-shifting couches, this time has taken up Gumdrop program. The program has been divided into two parts – first, handy bins that encourage gum disposal; and second, a process she invented to make new products out of recycled gum.

After seeing the mess that gums had created at the pockmarked sidewalks surrounding her school, Brighton University, Bullus decided to recycle them. For the project, this eco-conscious student has created and placed bins for bubblegum all around central London. The chewing gums are then collected and converted into pellets, after which they are shaped into a plastic using secret additives. Bullus is also planning to make some other products using the gum that she collects.
