The new Royal Mail stamps that throw light on the declining British mammal population are just worth collecting. Available for purchase from Tuesday, the series of stamps will feature animals like the humpback whale, wildcat, brown long-eared bat, polecat, sperm whale, water vole, greater horseshoe bat, otter, dormouse and hedgehog.
Earlier too Royal Mail’s Action For Species series saw images of birds, insects and plants. This fourth series called the “Mammals” is here to draw attention towards the species that stand on the verge of extinction. Special heed was paid to make the release of the stamps was coincide with the International Year of Biodiversity (IYB), a United Nations conservation initiative. The main aim behind these special stamps is to spread an important message of mammal conservation across the world.
