Siemens has installed a 250-megawatt (MW) renewable energy plant in Egypt’s Gulf of Suez on the Red Sea coast. At present, Siemens is just behind Denmark’s Vestas, US General Electric, Spain’s Gamesa, Germany’s Enercon and India’s Suzlon, which are the world’s top wind turbine makers. However, the recent development in Gulf may enable Siemens to make it to the world’s top three. By 2012, it is perfectly feasible.
Moreover, it will go on to substantiate Egypt’s claim to generate 12 per cent of its power from wind farms by 2020.
