In a press conference yesterday, Yokohama Tire Corporation launched its upgraded environmentally sensitive ADVAN ENV-R2 racing tire in Sebring, Florida. Although the ADVAN ENV-R1 introduced in 2009 was eco-friendly, the new product is greener. It uses a greater amount of sustainable resources such as orange oil and natural rubber, reducing the use of petroleum use during manufacturing. The ADVAN ENV-R2 is faster and offers a better grip.

Conventional racing tires include little or no natural materials, but Yokohama’s earlier version increased the renewable, natural content to 15 percent. Keeping up to its eco-friendly efforts, the company this time increases the count to 20 percent with the ADVAN ENV-R2 racing tire. This ultra high-performance race tire that is a result of longstanding commitment to innovation, technology and the environment is the official spec tire of the Patrón GT3 Challenge by Yokohama and the ALMS GT3 Challenge (GTC) Class races. The orange oil technology developed by Yokohama’s motorsports division combines orange oil with natural rubber to form a new compound called Super Nano-Power Rubber that goes into making these eco-friendly tires.
