None could ever deny the fact that the cell phone batteries adds to the landfills ultimately. They do consume valuable resources during the production stage and pose some serious threats to the environment as such. Anyway, the Chinese designer Daizi Zheng has come up with a concept mobile phone for Nokia that ditches traditional batteries while showing favor to a bio battery. The bio battery uses Coke as fuel to generate electricity from carbohydrates.
Designer’s statement:
Bio battery is an ecologically friendly energy generates electricity from carbohydrates (currently sugar) and utilizes enzymes as the catalyst. By using bio battery as the power source of the phone, it only needs a pack of sugary drink and it generates water and oxygen while the battery dies out.
Had the designer been using plain sugar water as a fuel source, none could ever have questioned the nepotism hidden within the concept. Still, hats off to the designer for displaying such ingenuity.
