Berlin based J.Mayer H. Architects has won Audi Urban Future Award – Building a Future for 2030 award for visualizing a concept called A.WAY. The concept aims at using architecture and digital technologies to generate urban space to ensure efficient mobility. While the proponents consider flying cars, tele-transporting and underwater urban settings as absolutely naive propositions they project digitally augmented urban spaces as the answer to solution of shrinking urban space.
The project envisions traffic as a constant flow relinquishing need to spot parking space; pedestrians regain their walking sphere on the road lost to the cars and surveillance technologies would transform the city into a flowing data, allowing us to interact in entirely new ways. Use of these digital technologies would not only increase urban space but also let the cities grow free of pollution and congestion.
