A freshly completed, tent-shaped green wall named Living Pavilion, which was conceived and realized for the City of Dreams Pavilion competition, emerged as the first past the post at the event. The architects from Behin + Ha took more than three weeks to stuff the pavilion with milk crates and natural flora. Numerous milk crates served as beds for hanging, shade-tolerant plants. Once summer draws to close, the installation will be disassembled and the planted milk crates will be distributed across New York.
The architectural pavilion was built in parts: first in New Jersey and later, on Governors Island. The voluntary construction exemplifies the tenets of reuse, recycling and re-purposing, while strongly advocating the accessibility of sustainable design.
