John Long, sustainable development director at Blueprint Regeneration, has been trialing the latest thing in green transport: an electric scooter named escoota, for quite some time. The zero-CO2 two-wheeler costs just eight pence to charge up from empty through a standard 13-amp plug socket, which gives a range of up to 30 miles.
John has been zipping around Nottingham, and enjoying a shorter commute time. He says:
I think the escoota is great. It makes virtually no noise, produces no CO2 emissions, and doesn’t even cost anything in terms of road tax.
Lincoln Austin, owner of escoota, expresses his optimism while saying:
We hope to be part of the evolution in green technology and play a major role in encouraging the adoption of electric vehicle technology. We are really pleased to be associated with Blueprint and share their commitment to sustainability.
A joint venture between Igloo, an Aviva Investors sustainable investment property fund, East Midlands Development Agency (emda) and the Homes & Communities Agency (HCA), Blueprint is an East Midlands based, 50-50 public-private partnership – a specialist development vehicle with a remit and the resources to deliver sustainable, design-led regeneration projects across the region.
