Until now, we have seen many vehicles running wind fast using wind power, but for participants who took part in the 18th annual Cheddar Challenge Human-Powered Vehicle Race at the Washington Park Velodrome yesterday, things were a little different. This great source of renewable stood against those pedaling their way to the finish line.

There was a great variety of bikes seen in the competition ranging from BMX bikes to mountain bikes, some looking like mini rockets, while others like crooked skeletal structures. The “50” bike designed by the “101” bike designer Dan Zolyniak was run by racer Amanda Chu. Designed for the American Society of Mechanical Engineers competition held in May, this bike human-powered vehicle reached a speed of 47 miles per hour for 200 feet.

This time around, the space-aged car like two-wheeler was seen at Washington Park Velodrome. Others entering the 100-lap race with their green vehicles are Frank Lindley with the “284” bike and Dave “Doc” Pearson with the “101” bike. The competition comes as a great way of encouraging people to switch to a green way of transportation.
