Dar HI eco-retreat offers peaceful environment to rejuvenate body, mind and soul

Designed by French product designer Matali Crasset, the “Dar HI” is an eco-retreat located in the historic center of the city of Nafta in the south of Tunisia. The guest house comprises of 17 units arranged in four different concepts varying from sand dune-like form to traditional design to rock wren to stilt houses that overlook the local life and the palm. The walls of the structure are made of solid bricks of ocher, the roofs and doors are made from palm wood.

The Dar HI includes a spa that offers a break from life to meditate, relax and rejuvenate the body, mind and soul. It offer massage and care, bath with relaxing oils, a meditation room, steam room in the tradition of Eastern steam-heated hot water from the desert, a hot pool spa jet massage, a lounge, yoga etc. Water from a hot spring in the desert not only provides geothermal heating to steam room and swimming pool, but also helps to irrigate the oases.

The food comes from the organically grown produce by the local farmers. The guest house is made using local materials like palm wood and replaces paints with a coating of natural lime thela with natural dyes. A lifetime membership that costs you about $140,000 will allow you to spend six months at the eco-retreat each year.
