Eco-DIYer Nate D. from Motorcycling.com has converted a five-speed “stilletto” chopper bike by Giant into a solar-electric one with a brushless hub motor that is fueled by a 36V battery pack. A modular solar panel array, wired in to charge the battery pack, delivers around 36+ volts and 10 watts. While it is shining, he keeps the PV panel/battery pack attached to it; else, removes it for charging through a wall socket. Any eco-conscious individual would sure love this solar-powered electric bike, we believe.
