The eco warrior who has recycled more than 11,000 aluminum cans

Aluminium cans recycling

Aluminum cans are a favorite option to store food and beverages. The lightweight material does not rust and has a very clean outer shell. The malleable metal is not costly and deletes the need of can openers. But, what happens after the material inside the can is consumed? Without much thought we throw them away. This is a sad case; and to change the whole trend is Adrian Ablett from Leicester.

The 38 year old environment lover collects these cans from the streets and recycles them. Wow! He keeps a keen eye on thrown away aluminum cans while walking on the roads/streets, three to four times a week. Adrian has added wheels to a bin, which is used to store all the cans he manages to lay his hands on. The wheelie trash can rolls with him for a green cause.

All the collection is carried to the recycling center situated at Tesco, South Wigston. Adrian’s senses got stirred when a local supermarket asked people to recycle and earn points on their Clubcard. There has been no looking back for this enthusiast, who is hopeful to shot the count till 20,000 cans this November. Till date he has earned 5,542 points, which calculates up to £55. The planet savior plans to blow up this cash when Christmas arrives.

Adrian is also actively involved with the Leicester’s Green Lifeboat project, which keeps the lakes and canals of the city clean. His love for the environment has helped him squeeze out valuable time from his busy life. Adrian feels, if everyone starts contributing their bit, the world will become a much better place to live. We couldn’t agree more!
