Egg Carton Light Shades
Federico Otero is known as originator of egg carton light shades. He fashioned them into circular shapes that can be hung from top or placed atop lamps. You can paint these white, throw in some color or carve some beautiful patterns to give and artistic touché. These can be easily fashioned at home and joint with strings if you do not want to use adhesives.
Egg Carton Paintings
Dutch artist Enno de Kroon has created “egg cubism” which are paintings drawn on recycled egg cartons. The artist has used ordinary cartons as canvas turning them into what he calls two-and-a-half dimensional paintings. He has used every carton to create fragmented and multifaceted image.
Egg Carton Auto-Cannibalistic Table
The Auto-Cannibalistic table is a temporary object created with egg cartons by Atema of Atema Architecture. The egg cartons have been pasted with wheat paste glue that is made from flour and water. Eatable plants such as herbs can be grown in the center of the table and is designed as an “eat-away” table.
Egg Carton Footstool
The egg carton footstool has been handmade by artist Inna Alesina using 100% recycled paper pulp egg cartons. It has been colored with water-based fabric dye and has been designed in such a manner that you can lay it flat and it will be static. Also, if you tip it to the side it will become a rocking ottoman. This footstool comes in four colors – blue, beige, terra cotta and green.
Egg Carton Eggo Homes
Australia-based Goldenhen studio has built a life-sized home called “The Original Dream” in which they have stacked hundreds of reused egg cartons like Lego blocks. It has been aptly named the “Eggo” installation and has been modeled after Howard Arkely’s well-known painting, “Family Home: Suburban Exterior, 1993”. The painting is considered as the Australian dream home of suburban living.
