Rubber plant: The Rubber plant is named after the appearance of its leaves. It is easy to care for, and can thrive well even at lower temperatures, which makes it perfect as an indoor plant. This plant is known to be very effective in removing formaldehyde from the atmosphere but you need to be careful since it can grow up to a large height of 8 feet.
Dracaena “Janet Craig”: This plant is a great option for your home or office interiors, and is very useful since it shows properties to remove chemicals like trichloroethylene from the air. Photocopiers and scanners generally release trichloroethylene. While buying the plant you should be careful to get the “compacta” variety that is almost one to three feet long.
Boston Fern: This is a non flowering plant and possesses abundant foliage. It removes airborne chemicals and retains the moisture content of the air. It grows well inside a hanging basket and needs regular misting. The temperature for proper growth ranges between 50-75 degrees Fahrenheit.
Dwarf Date Palm: Dwarf date palms are trees that have a slow growth and can grow up to a height of six feet. They can last for many years and are durable with very low maintenance required. They are excellent in removal of xylene from the air, which is generally emitted chemical from caulking, adhesives, floor covering, wall coverings, paints and particle boards. Maximum temperature required for proper growth is above 50 degrees Fahrenheit.
