Turning their obsession for homemade crafts that fly into reality a software entrepreneur, Breck Baldwin and Mark Harder an audio engineer have developed remote-controlled aircrafts. The flying Stingrays like planes are made from parts and recycled materials that costs less than $100. They feature two servo control motors, a battery, a charger, radio and receiver, motor and speed controller, DC to AC convertor cardboard wings and recycled plastic used greenhouse roofs.
Launching their strange plane in McCarren Park in Williamsburg, Brooklyn, the duo felt absolutely proud to see the planes glide like miniature stealth bombers. In their spacious basement studio called the “Brooklyn Aerodrom” not only do they built the planes from scratch, but also teaching others how to build and fly the planes at three-hour free sessions. “Flying towels” as the planes are called looks truly inspirational and the duo has already built as many as 35 of them.
