Are you too unsure of which veggie to pick up and which one to leave? Not anymore, a team of designers has come up with an ingenious method to check the freshness level of the veggies in a supermarket. Supermarkets, a place where loads of vegetable are heaped and dumped regularly, who really bothers if they are fresh or not.
Taking care of this problem, Sisi Yuan, Yiwu Qiu, Lei Zhao, Qiulei Huang, Lijun Zhang and Weihang Shu have designed something that they call the “Fresh Code.” It is an intelligent barcode which when put on the fruits and veggies is like any other barcode, but will time when its real action begins. It starts fading with the product’s freshness and finally when it reaches 0, it indicates that the product is no longer fresh and it’s time to dump it. A simpler yet very useful way; what’s your take on that?
