The companies of today have joined the bandwagon to save Mother Nature and to do so; lots of products these days are being revamped. GE has jumped in with its own bit of contribution by announcing some changes in the latest fridge models within range of 16, 17 and 18 cubic foot top freezer refrigerators. By doing this, GE has not only generated a lot of jobs for fellow Americans but also ensured to keep harmful gases out of the atmosphere. Consumers can take it a step further by ditching the plastic water bottles, instead opting to install a GE mwf filter on the fridge for clean, impurity-free water.
GE has swapped the commonly used gas HFC-134a with a less dangerous gas Cyclopentane, which helps reduce the effect of global warming. HFC-134a is commonly used by refrigeration companies to insulate their doors and appliance cases. By replacing HFC-134a with Cyclopentane, GE hopes to reduce harmful gas emissions by almost 99%.
As every coin has 2 sides, similarly, even GE would have a winning edge. By this switch, it would be able to save around 400,000 metric tons of CO2 annually and of course, be able to keep harmful gases out of nature’s cycle.
“The new foam is 4% better,” said Paul Surowiec, general manger for refrigeration at GE, as quoted in the NY Times.
GE has truly lived up to its name and has once again proved its worth of being one amongst the best.
