John Nichol, a professional horticulturist at the Rainforest Biome (Eden Project’s largest covered biome at 300ft wide, 600ft long and 165ft high), utilizes a special helium balloon for reaching the tops of towering balsa and kapok trees. As these trees generally reach up to the 150ft ceiling of the dome, so they require regular pruning to avoid any harm to the Canopy Bubble.
The giant balloon also assists John to bring about pollination and check pests besides pruning. The Rainforest Biome contains around 16,000 tropical plants including banana trees, coffee, rubber plants and giant bamboo.
